Driving Day

We headed down to Panguitch on Monday night to save three hours of traveling the next day on our way to California. We surprised K&K Monday afternoon by telling them, at last, where we had planned a surprise family trip, in part, for their birthday. After being caught in a blizzard on Monday night driving to Gma and Gpa Black's house, the warm temps and sunshine of the Golden State awaited us. We wound our way through a small strip of Arizona, drove through Las Vegas on I-15 (there is a place that is uglier than Emery County, Utah), and through the dry deserts of Eastern California. When We reached Anaheim around 4:00, Cali time, the kids were more than ready to get out and run.
With the cost in gas the last few weeks, it ended up being a cheaper for us to get a hotel for the first two nights of our trip that was just a short walk from Disney Land. It had a waterpark playland right outside our door, so the kids had easy access to some much needed exercise. It was called something like "The Pirate's Cove" and had a few water slides, and a small kid's pool. Couldn't have been funner. We had an outdoor patio that was fenced in that overlooked the area, so Jared and I took turns out in the water with the older set of twins, while the younger set enjoyed crawling around both inside and out.

(She's spraying Kimball in this picture. No remorse.)

  1. Wow! A waterpark at the hotel - how fun! It looks like Luke wanted to try out the water too!
